Apple Picking and Autumn Picnic

As we get ready to welcome the beautiful season of autumn, we look forward to enjoying the gorgeous weather and changing leaves, beginning with our apple picking event followed by an outdoor picnic, where the beautiful landscape and rolling vineyard views of our chosen winery will be reminiscence of Tuscany.

Lets enjoy the autumn before the winter is here again, with a trip to an orchard followed by a visit to a nearby winery and cidery in Delaplane Virginia.

Apple Picking at Stribling Orchard

We will start our morning at Stribling Orchard where the apples are ripe and waiting to be picked against the backdrop of beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The orchard offers a variety of apples and a easy fun picking process, where we will be given descriptions of the types of apples and maps of the orchard, circling the areas that are currently ripe for picking. As the apple season goes on, the picking areas and varieties vary from month to month.

Each person only pays for the apples that they pick, besides you also have the option of purchasing other items like cider and seasonal produce from the farm store.

Picnic at Miracle Valley Vineyard and Cobbler Mountain Cellars

After picking apples, we will head over to Miracle Valley Vineyard, about a 7 mile drive from the orchard, where we will picnic in a very scenic picturesque setting while enjoying a beautiful autumn day.

Miracle Valley Vineyard property has been a cattle ranch from the time of the early American Revolution, through the Civil War, all the way up to the late 1980s. The old farm house was converted into the tasting room, one of the old stables was converted into the wine processing facilities and an old barn still stands as winery equipment storage in the rear of the farm.

Please feel free to bring your own picnic or you can snack on light snacks available in the winery tasting room. The winery also has live music on Saturday afternoons.

After Miracle Valley Vineyard, we will head over to Cobbler Mountain Cellars which is about 3 miles from the vineyard. At Cobbler Mountain Cellars we have the option of either tasting their wines or cider or both, while taking in the views of the vineyard against the backdrop of a beautiful mountain range.
