An Afternoon Exploring Craft Breweries

Washington, D.C. has a long, albeit interrupted history with brewing, that goes back to the 18th century, and the last decade in particular has seen an emergence of craft breweries and brewpubs around the District, which we have been exploring for the last few years.

Our exploration of distilleries and breweries in the DMV continues, as we go in search of some good craft brews.

An Afternoon Exploring Craft Breweries

In our upcoming event, we will get to explore one of those wonderful creations from the pursuit of the American Dream — Craft Beer, that many of us love for its unique flavor, taste and aromas and importantly at times the unforgettable resonating stories of hard work and creativity, behind its success.

Our afternoon will start at the 3 Stars Brewing Company, which has a wide selection of beers on tap. The brewery is set up in a renovated industrial space which has a nice, lively vibe.

The brewery also offers tours at different times and those that are interested in learning more about their brewing processes can join a tour.

We will then head over to Hellbender Brewing Company, which is just a 5 minute drive. The brewery gets its name from, the hellbender salamander a species of aquatic giant salamander native to eastern North America.

At the brewery, we will taste their popular year round brews and some seasonal beers. The brewery has communal tables and also offers tours at different times for those interested to learn more about their brewing processes.

Note:

If you are planning to participate in the brewery tours, for your personal safety, the breweries require visitors to wear closed-toe shoes (i.e. boots or sneakers, no flip flops or sandals).

The breweries do not sell food in the tasting room, however food trucks will be outside from time to time and you are welcome to bring your own food.
