Lets enjoy autumn with its gorgeous weather and changing leaves before winter is here again, with a trip to Culpeper a charming, historic town just an hour from Washington, DC.

A Winery with Mountain Views

We will start our day at the Old House Vineyards, a 75 acre farm with 24 acres of vineyards, nestled at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Here, an 1800's farmhouse has been restored to an inviting gathering place surrounded by beautiful mountain views.

Wines include Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Chardonnay and Vidal Blanc.

We plan to do a tasting at the Old House Vineyard, explore the vineyard grounds and then continue our exploration of some scenic autumn views and fall foliage.

Fall Foliage along Lake Pelham

After our winery visit, we will explore some beautiful scenic views and fall foliage by driving to Lake Pelham, which is named after John Pelham, a respected artillery man who served in the American Civil War.

The scenery is peaceful and air is fresh making a trip to the lake most enjoyable besides the beautiful fall foliage that surrounds the lake.
