Exploring an Old Farm Winery in Virginia

A glass of wine on a cold winter day while tucked in the warmth of an old farm house, next to a cozy wood fire is the outline of our next experience, as our exploration of the wineries in the Maryland and Virginia region continues.

Our Saturday afternoon exploration will entail a visit to a winery in Virginia, just about an hour's drive from Washington DC.

Exploring a Farm Winery in Virginia

We will visit a winery where the main tasting room is in the living room of a c.1820 house and you taste wine with the family who grows the grapes and makes the wines.

Zephaniah Farm Vineyard is scenic working farm, where the Hatch family has farmed in Loudoun since 1950, across years and three generations.

Now under the care of Bill Hatch and Bonnie Archer, there’s a lot of history here, from the grass fed beef that they still raise, to the old pictures of Zephaniah himself — a Navy Captain that hangs in the tasting-room of the old country manor.

The setting here is friendly, casual and relaxing where you can learn more about the vineyard, farming and the wine making process.
