For our next exploration of Virginia wine region we have selected a historic winery located in a hundred-year old barn where you can taste side-by-side wines from Virginia and California.

Our Saturday afternoon exploration will entail a visit to a winery in Warrenton, Virginia just around an hour driving from downtown Washington, D.C.

A Winery in a Historic Setting

We will visit Vint Hill Craft Winery located in Warrenton, Virginia that offers a side-by-side tasting of wines from Virginia and California, besides an interesting history that comes with its location.

Interesting Hidden Facts
  • Vint Hill Farm was first established before the Revolutionary War. It became well known for breeding exotic cattle from Europe.
  • Vint Hill Farms Station was established during World War II in 1942 by the Army's Signal Intelligence Service (SIS).

    It was in this building that our military intercepted information on the Nazi fortifications along the French Coast that General Dwight D. Eisenhower later said made a significant contribution to the D-Day invasion at Normandy.

Wine Tasting at the Winery
We will taste their different wines and take a tour of the surroundings. The winery also offers cheese platters & crackers, and hummus & pita chips for purchase.
