With cool fall weather, it's time to continue our exploration of some of the scenic wineries around the Maryland and Virginia countryside, and so for our next exploration we have selected two wineries nestled in a picturesque rolling green hills of Frederick County.

Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard

We will start our Saturday afternoon at Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard nestled amid the rolling hills of Frederick County, Maryland.

Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard

The varietals planted at the vineyard have been carefully selected, staying true to the micro-climate as well as the region. The wines are crafted in small blocks, showcasing their best characteristics with a refined complexity.

The grape varietals includes Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Vidal Blanc, and Chambourcin. .

We will explore their different wines and enjoy a glass or two in the beautiful surrounding. You can bring your own food pairing to the winery.

New Market Plains Vineyards

New Market Plains Vineyards is located on the former estate of Nicholas Hall, Sr., the co-founder of New Market, MD.

New Market Plains Vineyards

The farm has remained in the family since the 1760's with the vineyards replanted in 2012 with a first vintage in 2014.

The grape varietals include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Muscat Blanc, Petit Verdot and Syrah.

Getting There

We will meet at Hidden Hills Farm and Vineyard.

When you enter the driveway, bear right at the first fork (past the barn entrance), then bear left at the second fork (past the old stone farmhouse). Continue the driveway through the stone lampposts.

We will meet in the Owner's private cellar. Look for the signs directing you to the cellar !!
